The Winthrop men's and women's tennis teams both defeated High Point 6-1 Tuesday, March 25 at Winthrop Memorial Courts. The men's tennis team's record has improved to 9-7 overall and 1-1 in the conference and the women's tennis team is now 7-9 overall and 3-0 in the conference.
The Winthrop baseball team used five runs scored in two innings to erase a three-run deficit against Wagner as the Eagles collected a hard-fought 5-4 win Monday afternoon at The Winthrop Ballpark. Trailing 2-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Winthrop got a three-run seventh inning to take the 5-4 lead.
The Lady Eagles were defeated by Radford in the semifinals of the Big South Conference Championship. The ladies finished at 20-12 accomplishing their best season in the school history. The Winthrop women's golf team finished fourth at the Sixth Annual Shamrock Intercollegiate, Sunday afternoon at Tega Cay Golf Club. The Lady Eagles trailed by two strokes heading into the final round and actually gained a stroke on Charleston Southern, the leader through the first two rounds.
The Eagles ended their season Thursday March 20 after being defeated 71-40 in Denver, Co. by the No. 4- seed Washington State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
