Fitness and Wellness Club

Open to: Any student or faculty member.

Purpose:
"Our organization promotes healthy lifestyles for everyday life. This means eating healthy things like lean meat, vegetables and fruits. We encourage people to stay away from sugar because it is the nation's leader in obesity. We also focus on the appropriate exercises for each body type or that person's goal. These range from losing weight, toning up and building muscle mass. We enforce any type of physical activity like running, basketball and lifting weights. For every two or three months, we try to measure our group members' progress by weighing them and measuring their body fat percentage. Once or twice a month, we try to run a boot camp that involves strenuous interval training. This includes push-ups, sit-ups, bicep curls, shoulder presses and running in between each exercise," Matt Palmer, president of the Fitness and Wellness Club and senior sociology major said.

Upcoming events:
"We have a meeting coming up on Tuesday March, 4 at 8:30 p.m. We are also working on doing another boot camp in March. Just keep a look out for student announcements," Palmer said.

"WOAC promotes health fitness amongst the students through various outdoor activities including whitewater rafting, rock climbing, hiking, and camping. We host weekly activities including whitewater kayaking in the west center pool and take several trips each semester to get our university active," Graves said.

Upcoming events:
"We are hosting an upcoming mountain biking trip to the USNWC coming up in late March in addition to a hiking trip to Crowders Mountain in April. Kayak roll Clinics are featured every Friday afternoon from 4-8 p.m. in the West Center pool," Graves said.
