Bursting out of Charlotte, N.C., the power-pop alternative-rock band, The Stellas, deliver their sound to the Southeast.

Mixing influences from 60's British pop (The Beatles, The Kinks) and modern rock (Weezer, The All-American Rejects), The Stellas' sound features strong melodies and catchy hooks that appeal to the masses.

The Stellas provide listeners with a fizz-pop, yet edgy sound that is both unique and addicting. Vocalist Adam Middleton, a finalist in the N.C. Songwriters Co-op and two-time winner of the Artist Weekly's "Artist of the Week," contributes honest lyrics and strong vocals while drummer Jacob Worden offers solid beats that showcase his mature talent. Bass player Josh Knight provides a complimentary backdrop of rhythms and tones.

"Our music isn't complex. We don't go for complicated," Knight said.

"We are are a straightforward, power chords, no frills rock band," Middleton said.

Newly added member Shaun McFall, who contributes his effortless guitar elements and backing vocals, hopes to bring a thicker sound along with edge and attitude to the band.

Their first single "eighteen" was recently picked up by Charlotte's radio station 106.5 The End and played on the Sunday evening 90 Minutes Showcase with host Divakar as well as having their songs played on the Columbia, S.C. based radio station, WXRY.

The Stellas' next few weeks are moments in which the band's true colors will shine. They will be sharing the stage with former Atlantic Recording artist and Carolina favorites, Athenaeum this Saturday, as well as opening for EMI/Capitol Recording artist Blind Melon on March 7 following an appearance on the Charlotte morning show, Fox News Rising, as the featured artist.

The Stellas are scheduled to record their first EP in early 2008 with local Charlotte producer Joe Kuhlman (Transmission Fields, The Houston Brothers, The Near Misses).

Their updated touring schedule can be found at www.myspace.com/thestellasband.
