Buy a cupcake for your sweet:

The following organizations will have Valentine's Day baked goods and chocolate sales:
- The Winthrop Chapter of the Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society will sell cupcakes for 75 cents beside Kinard from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
Decorations for the cupcakes will be available for personalization. Rain location will be in the Sims lobby.
- Winthrop's NAACP chapter will have a bake sale in front of Byrnes from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday.
- The Student Environmental Action Coalition (SEAC) and Amnesty International will sell fair trade chocolates and flowers in front of Byrnes from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
Buying fair trade means supporting healthy working conditions, fair wages and environmentally-sustainable production methods.

Learn about loving and hating

NAACP will sponsor a discussion about relationships at 7 p.m. Wednesday in East Thomson Upper Lobby.
The host for the event will be junior mass communication major Pierre Kettere.
Discussion will include modern relationships, the roles men and women play in them and how students think they should play those roles.


GLoBAL meets regularly

GLoBAL, Winthrop's Gay, Lesbian or Bisexual Ally League, has meetings at 8 p.m. every Wednesday in 316 Kinard.
The group typically covers political issues that concern gays, lesbians, bisexuals or transgenders, as well as supporters.
A number of events are also planned for this semester. Everyone interested in social justice is invited.

Get your group moving

Group Exercise classes are now offered in the West Center, room 122, and are free of charge to all Winthrop students. There is no sign-up list.
A variety of classes are offered daily, including Cardio-Kickboxing, Step and Sculpt, Core Strength (15 minutes) and Athletic Challenge.

Reporter to speak about
professionalism

The Society of Professional Journalists will meet at 7 p.m. Feb. 21 in Johnson 102. Refreshments will be served.
Herald reporter Adam O'Daniel will speak about what it's like to work professionally in journalism.
