EDEN TERRACE
9/22 Possession of alcohol under 21

A late-night golf trip turned into a marathon run Saturday when a 19-year-old tried to get away from an officer after being caught with a Bud Light on the second hole.
The officer was responding to a call about three males on the course with alcohol at around 10:45 p.m. Saturday. Only one of the males was a student at Winthrop.
When the officer drove up to the course, one of the non-students placed his beer can on the ground and walked toward the edge of the woods.
After speaking with the other two golfers, the officer stepped into the woods to look for the third, but he had already gotten as far as the club house.
When the officer caught up with him, the underage drinker began running down the fairway back to hole two. The officer was able to catch and arrest him. The other non-student was issued a trespass warning and the Winthrop student was referred to the Winthrop Judicial System.

PRESIDENT'S CIRCLE
9/8 Public disorderly intoxication

At nearly 4 a.m., an officer on patrol spotted a student on the park bench in front of Wofford Hall with his head between his knees. He turned around at a construction barrier and the student still didn't look up.
The officer called out to the student, who was a freshman. He took three steps toward the police car before falling backwards onto the ground. While he was down there, he threw up beside the park bench.
The student said he wasn't sure how much he'd had to drink and was unable to tell where he had been drinking. The officer helped him to his feet and took him to the Rock Hill Police Department jail.

LEE WICKER
9/8 Violation noise ordinance
Possession of alcohol under 21

Loud music and talking could be heard from the second floor stairwell of Lee Wicker residence hall. An officer followed the noise and found it coming from seven rooms down.
The student inside said she was unaware that the noise ordinance applied to the weekend. The officer corrected her and asked if there was any alcohol in the room. She said no, and the officer asked to search.
He found a cold open beer can on the floor in the room. The student and another student in the room - both freshmen - were referred to the Winthrop Judicial system.
