Meet the recruits: men's soccer

The 2007 Winthrop men's soccer team and Head Coach, Rich Posipanko, have added some high caliber players to their roster this year.
"All the new guys are going to contribute to the team immediately throughout the season," Posipanko said. "All the new guys can play and they are good athletes."
Posipanko signed seven recruits for the 2007 season, including Cooper Tilton, Tenywa Mubarak, Eric Owens, Drew Sanders, Andrew Murphy, Grant Wise and Magnus Leung.
Cooper Tilton, a 5'9 midfielder from Rockville Md., earned honors as a First Team All-State selection and Wendy's High School Heisman Trophy Nominee. Tilton was also selected to both the NSCAA/Adidas All-American Team and NSCAA/Adidas Academic All-American Team.
Tenywa Mubarak, a native of Uganda, becomes the third Ugandan to join the men's soccer team. Mubarak, the 6'0 midfielder/defender, played for the KCC soccer club and is also a member the U-23 Uganda Olympic Team Pool and has played on the U-20 Uganda National Team.
Eric Owens, a 6'2 Goal Keeper from Coopersburg, Pa., earned honors as a 2006 NSCAA/Adidas All-East Region Team selection. Owens also was named to the First Team All-Conference and All-State Team in his home state of Pennsylvania.
Also in the new recruiting class are two All-State players in Drew Sanders from Maryville, Ill., and Andrew Murphy from Jamestown, N.C.
Sanders, a 5'9 midfielder/defender, acclaimed honors as a 2006 First Team All-Southwestern Conference selection and MVP and team captain of his high school squad.
Murphy, the 5'8 midfielder/forward, was selected to the First Team All-State squad in North Carolina and was named the 2006 Piedmont Triad 3A Conference Offensive Player of the Year.
The 2007 recruiting class also includes two transfer players with NCAA Division I experience in Grant Wise, a native of Memphis Tenn:, and Magnus Lueng, a native of St. Bonaventure, Canada.
Wise, a 6-0 midfielder who transferred from Memphis, played 25 games for the Tigers last season and scored one goal and assisting on three during his tenure at Memphis. Wise has also won a state championship in Texas while playing for Solar SC in Texas.
Lueng, the 5'10 midfielder, transferred from St. Bonaventure where he played 17 games. Lueng also played in Toronto with fellow teammate and current Winthrop player Daniel Revivo, and won the 2005/2006 Provincial League Title.
The 2007 Winthrop Men's soccer team returns with nine starters from last years team. The 2006 team claimed both the Big South Conference regular season and in season tournament championships.
From there, the Eagles advanced to the NCAA College Cup South Atlantic Regional but were eliminated by losing to Old Dominion on penalty kicks. They finished the season at 15-3-4.
"Our expectations are much higher this season than they were last season," Posipanko said. "We also have the talent to go further than we did last season."
