The Charlotte Greek festival was invaded by Winthrop's Culture Club on Sunday for the first excursion of the semester.

Michelle Maness, the club's vice president, enthusiastically recalled the day's activities.

"There was a lot of Greek food, stalls to buy jewelry, cook books and T-shirts. Outdoor tents with people of all ages Greek dancing," she said. "It was a lot of fun."

The Culture Club is Winthrop's newest club, providing an opportunity for all students to develop friendships and knowledge of different cultures.

The club is open to all students, faculty and staff and boasts an array of international students, domestic students and those interested in heading abroad.

The primary objective is simply to have fun. Activities planned include foreign film nights, pot-luck cook-ups and festivals.

The first meeting saw the election of Elizabet Garzon as president, Michelle Maness as vice president and Meredith Edlin as treasurer. Additional positions will be filled in due course.
