For those looking for a relaxing way to spend their Sunday, the fourth annual "Concert on the Lawn" concert will kick off this Sunday at 6 p.m. on the front lawn of Byrnes Auditorium.
An assortment of marches, musical medleys, folk songs and patriotic music will be performed.
The concert will showcase faculty soloists, small ensemble and large band music from several genres of music.
Assistant director of bands, Lorrie Crochet ,started the event three years ago, and encourages students and families to enjoy music that is reflective of popular band concerts in the park during the 1900s.
The ensemble is the combination of two concert bands that Crochet directs and over 100 students are involved in this event.
"There should be something for everyone and hopefully the weather will be beautiful," Crochet said. "We have a pretty campus and this concert will encourage people to take advantage of being outside."
Due to severe weather last year the concert was moved inside Byrnes, and the turn out wasn't so great.
This year the weather won't be an issue. In case of rain the concert will be moved to Sept. 30.
Despite the weather, Crochet still encourages everyone to come out and have a good time.
"I hope that people on campus and from the community will bring picnics and enjoy being on our campus while hearing some great music," Crochet said.
