Reserve point guard De'Andre Adams passed away over the summer on May 16. He was 20 years old.

Winthrop officials have announced that a memorial service will be held on August 28 at 7 p.m. in the Winthrop Coliseum. Gates to the Coliseum will open at 6:30 p.m.

The service is open to all Winthrop students, faculty and the surrounding community. Those who attend will find out how they can contribute to the De'Andre Adams Scholarship Fund.

Adams had just dropped off his teammate and best friend Mantoris Robinson at his house during the early morning hours of May 12 after playing at a run and shoot basketball facility in Atlanta.

These facilities, located in cities like Atlanta and Washington D.C., involve intense five-on-five pick-up games.

While driving home, Adams lost control of his car.
