"Happy Feet" hit the big screen Nov. 17 with Mumble, the dancing penguin, as the main character.
However, emperor penguins are expected to dance, not sing.
With stars such as Robin Williams, Elijah Wood, Brittany Murphy and Nicole Kidman, "Happy Feet" rocked theaters.
The movie starts off strong with Mumble's parents meeting and falling in love. Next ,Mumble awkwardly enters into a world of singing penguins. He attempts and fails miserably at singing only to become an outcast. Because he is not accepted, Mumble leaves the penguin pack and discovers a new world beyond the ice. Here he is introduced to new group of penguins who accept him for being himself. He is also exposed to the effects of human, where he draws the conclusion that the penguin's food supply is being cut off by people fishing.
When Mumble returns home to the emperor penguins only be shunned yet again, he leaves vowing to solve the food shortage.
For those into graphics, cool effects, and vibrant colors, this movie is appealing. However, after Mumble sets out on his journey to find food the movie takes a sharp turn downhill and from this point, it was obvious that more time and energy was put into the effects and humor of this movie than the actual plot.
Mumble is only a penguin and the task of communicating with humans to solve the food shortage becomes too big, for even him. Plus, the way he went about solving the problem was a bit confusing. The penguins dance to show the humans they are starving?
The characters portrayed were full of personality and very comical, however the storyline was a bit disappointing.
