The Winthrop women's soccer team set a school record for the smallest time span between three goals, picked up a conference victory and a non-conference draw this week.

Winthrop 4, Coastal Carolina 2

The Eagles scored three goals in a four minute and eight second time span to set a record for the fastest three goals in school history and recovered from a two goal deficit to take home a 4-2 victory.

Coastal came out hot early in the first half putting up their first goal in the 3rd minute of the match.

The Chanticleers increased their lead to 2-0 in the 20th minute on a header inside the box.

"The players knew they weren't playing up to their level or style during the time we got scored on," head coach Melissa Heinz said. "I subbed some players in that would bring back a little of that intensity and style to get us back on track.

The players realized they needed to step it up or they would lose any chance of a comeback."

The comeback started at 32:13 as junior midfielder Jodi Kemp scored her first career goal when she chipped the ball over the Coastal goalkeeper from 15 yards out.

At 34:13, exactly two minutes later, senior defender Jennifer Hensley was heads up after a foul on Coastal. With the Chanticleer goalkeeper caught out of her net, Hensley ripped a shot from 40 yards out and put it in the back of the net to tie the game at two goals a piece

At 36:21, senior forward Allison Stoltz was taken down in the box and was awarded a penalty kick. Stoltz put the kick in the left corner past the keeper for what would prove to be the game winner.

Winthrop tacked on one more goal in the 87th minute when sophomore forward Chelsea White.

Sophomore goalkeeper Dimitra Poulos made three saves in the 4-2 victory.

The win, their eighth of the year, matched Winthrop's program record of eight wins from last season.

Winthrop 1, Davidson 1

The Eagles played their second to last non-conference game at home Sunday afternoon and came away with a 1-1 tie against the Davidson Wildcats.

Winthrop had a few chances in the first 15 minutes of the match, but was unable to convert on their opportunities.

Davidson got on the scoreboard first in the 27th minute after a cross into the box was put past Poulos to put the Wildcats up 1-0.

Winthrop almost scored when one of Hensley's team-leading five shots from 40 yards out was saved by Davidson's goalkeeper and was then cleared.
