This evolved into the beginning of what is known as Fusion. Chapman has traveled to various places speaking about God, and now is here at Winthrop to do the same.
Chapman let the Johnsonian in on a few of his present and future and endeavors.
The Johnsonian: Tell us a brief history of Fusion.
Chapman: Fusion began last year of spring semester. The sole reason I came here was because I did a study of the organizations on campus and none of them had diversity.
Being that Winthrop is a very diverse campus, I wanted to start a ministry that looks just like the campus. Diversity has always been in my heart because of my three sons- they're biracial.
The Johnsonian: How many other individuals are part of this organization and how are they associated with you?
Chapman: We are all a part of Steele Creek, and our church is very culturally diverse. There are 43 different flags in our church, and they all represent a family.
The Johnsonian: What could be expected upon someone's first visit?
Chapman: They could expect to see someone different than themselves, feel the warmth and love of Jesus Christ, to hear a message they can relate to and worship with students here at Winthrop.
The Johnsonian: What are some of your goals in life?
Chapman:To love my wife, raise my sons, be a good man in my home and impact the world with the message of Jesus.
The Johnsonian: What was the best learning experience you received in college and why?
Chapman: Playing baseball and starting a Bible study group that, within the span of four years, had people giving their lives to Christ, and also I was married in college as well.
